Firstly, they will start their day with a mental preparation because it can be a lot on a person. After they are going to organize their day by their different patient or appointment. They can also stay informed about recent and new studies. There is the moment for the consultations. Each patient as different story, personality, and need, so they need to be prepared and ready for each appointment of the day. There are also administrative tasks that need to be done but mostly at the end of their day after or in between consultations. Some examples are scheduling, billing, or notes. After all of these, there is a good chance that is the time to head back home.

There are a lot of different places where a psychologist can work. Where there is need for some people with a mental problem or illness. So, there are hospitals, clinic, rehabilitation centers for people who had traumatic incidents, nursing homes or long-term facilities, Social services and government facilities like school can also need a psychologist for kids with a special situation at home like at school. Obviously, a psychologist can also work in research institutions where they will proceed to study a person or a group.
How can I become a psychologist?
In Quebec to become a psychologist you have to go to cegep in the first place. You will have to do specifics courses like biology or stats and probability. After the Cegep, you have to attend university for 8 to 10 years. Yes, it is a long path. You will start with a B.A in psychology for 3 years and you pursue with a DOC in psychology who can vary the amount of time. In all of you studies you will have to do research with your university teacher and some internships.
How much money do psychologists make?
A psychologist is a career with a quite good salary, but it can always vary. When they start it is around 60-70k but with the experience it can go to a little bit more than a 100k.
What kinds of additional training do psychologists need?
For a psychologist's conventions and conferences can be really helpful and interesting throughout their career. It can be more concentrated on kids, couple, social skills and a lot of other subjects. It will help them find new techniques and way of treating patients and helping them.
What are the dangers of being a psychologist?
Eventually you will face some cons while practicing psychology. First of all, if you want to build your own cabinet, it can be really hard and demanding to do it. Also, you will hear a lot of different stories that can be really hard emotionally and put you in a bad position mentally. Sometimes the work schedule can really hard to mix with your life because of emergency with a patient in a crisis. You will have to be in school for a long time before achieving the goal of being a psychologist and for some patient medical bill and insurance problems will occur. So, that's some cons of the career of a psychologist but no worry there are cons in every career.
What are the chances that psychologists will be replaced by robots soon?
For now there is not big chances that psychologist will be replaced with robots or AI because it is a human interaction based job. It's the point of it. The robots or AI could be used for help more than a big replacement. It is not an option to replaced real psychologist with robots because you can't fully trust technology to keep some personal information and story, and it will take the human interaction that is one of the most important things in this profession.
What age do psychologists retire at?
You can retire in Canada around 65 years old but a lot of therapists working in their 70s and will retire at the end of their 70s. There is not an age where your obligated to retire because it is a more long-term career.
Conclusion
Right now I am at the end of my second semester in Cegep. I have another year to complete and after that, I will head off to university to start my B.A in psychology. Later in my life one of my goals would be to help children and student-athletes with their mental health.
